Our community joined us at Ypsilanti's Riverside Arts Center for the 5th year of mind-expanding programming, workshops, and live events!

Wednesday, April 24

  • 26.2 Filmmaker Marathon Screening | 7PM

    A screening of the 4 minute films that have been shot as part of iFFY’s 26.2 hour filmmaking marathon.

iFFY Opening Night—Thursday, April 25

  • Michigan-ish | 7:30PM

    Opening night of this year's iFFY features a broad selection of short films from our mittened little corner of the world, encompassing everything from personal essays and music videos to forays into science fiction.

  • Afterparty @ Riverside Arts Center

    FREE TO THE PUBLIC. After the screening, swing downstairs to the Riverside Art Center basement gallery for drinks, chit-chat, and plentiful dancefloor thump courtesy of iFFY resident DJ Golden Feelings (also of House of Jealous Lovers infamy).

Friday, April 26

  • Best of The London International Animation Festival 2023 | 7PM

    The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) is the UK’s largest, longest-running animation festival, screening annually since 2003. This programme is a snapshot of the most recent festival - 8 short films that promise to inspire, delight and challenge the notion that animation is merely for the 3D CGI blockbuster genre or cute cartoons for kids.

  • Thicker Than Water | 9PM

    Eight short films exploring the horror, suspense, and terrible humor of troubled family relations and the things we inherit.

  • Afterparty @ Bellflower

    FREE TO THE PUBLIC. After the screenings, we'll make our way down the street to Ypsilanti's finest restaurant for after-hours drinking, hobnobbing, and an eclectic mix of dancefloor-friendly vinyl spun by Ypsi favorite DJ Agent 99Agent 99.

  • From Lens to Light: Demystifying Cinematography for Indie Filmmakers | 1PM

    "From Lens to Light" is an immersive workshop designed to transform how emerging filmmakers view and utilize camera and lighting techniques. Led by Garrett Sammons, a seasoned director and commercial cinematographer, this session delves deeply into the cinematic toolkit, unraveling the mysteries of achieving a filmic look regardless of budget constraints.

  • Best of the Children's Film Festival Seattle 2023 | 1PM

    Dive into exciting adventures and vibrant colors with this joyful collection of award-winning and audience favorite short animated films from Children’s Film Festival Seattle. Follow along as different critters and kids embark on adventures of friendship, family, and learning to be yourself!

  • Radio Campfire | 3PM

    Radio Campfire is a live listening event featuring creative audio stories of all kinds, curated and presented by a collective of audio producers in Detroit, Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s like going to the movies, but for your ears. We gather together, dim the lights, and enjoy an evening of memorable radio documentaries, soundscapes and experimental sonic shorts.

  • Festival of (In)appropriation | 4:30PM

    Founded in 2009, the Festival of (In)appropriation is a preeminent international showcase for experimental, found-media film and video. Every year, the Festival attracts artists working across an astonishing array of moving-image formats while probing the limits of collage, machinima, re-mix, détournement, mash-up, and more.

  • Stars In Our Eyes Vol. 2 | 7PM

    This program consists of a collection of delightful short films centered on familial and friendly bonds designed to evoke joy, laughter, and heartwarming emotions.

  • Blood Memories | 9PM

    Eight snapshots of alternate histories and futures. Ancestral lore and mythologies remixed, reinterpreted. Mirror-worlds visited through a BIPOC lens.
